The name isn't as random as you might think. Here at UCSD, the mascot is King Triton--a figure to whom our founding members looked back in 2000 when they started The Daughters of Triton (or for short, the DOTs). Years later, what began as a handful of amateur singers has blossomed into a fully-fledged, all-female vocal performing ensemble. We've sung up and down the West coast, taught at the Preuss School and put on concerts with local SD groups Frequency, The Tritones and The Beat. We participate in annual events such as the California a Cappella Festival (CAF), the Los Angeles a Cappella Festival (LAAF) and the International Championship of Collegiate a Cappella (ICCA). In 2005 we released our first CD, Ready or Not.
Our repertoire typically consists of a mix of pop with sprinklings of jazz, broadway tunes and other genres. Throughout the year we perform at gigs on and off the UCSD campus ranging from casual sidewalk singing to our end-of-season concerts. Interested in becoming a DOT?
